Lyle Alexis started his day, like most, with a blueberry sugar cake from Eloeman's. But unusually, he decided to walk North on Suffolk, left at Daniel Webster. And it was there, on the corner of "Danny Way," where he spied a brown wallet.

"Well, lookie what we have here!"

He started rifling through the wallet right then and there, mumbling "lookie" at every business card and photo. And of course...

"Lookie, loo- oh shit, ten bucks. Aw shit! Whadelse..." And then, "?"

Tucked behind the ten, behind a coffee card and a couple of receipts, was a check. Unsigned, made out to "Sixty-Four dollars and...". What the hell is that? A mistake maybe? A god damn mistake! The person writing the check - a Vincent Sakarati, judging from the address at the top - started to write THE MONEY AMOUNT IN THE 'PAY TO THE ORDER OF' LINE! HA HA, and Lyle had the check. And it was unfinished, unsigned, and whatever else imaginable!

That very afternoon Lyle began his inquiry into an official name change. Apparently, one could get their name changed for a $25 charge at the Municipal. And it took Lyle only three days to get down to the city office, application in hand, unsigned check pressed snug inside his back pocket for reference.

"The court decrees recognition of the city stature in accordance with applicational process... thereby, accpeting (sic) said withdrawl of first name "Lyle" for forthcoming change in effect to "Sixty-four dollars and ... " Thank you sir, next case."

And so, that evening Lyle, huh, gotcha... 'Sixty..,' sat under his green banker's desk lamp and meticulously practiced finishing the check. He had already squeezed 'Alexis' after 'Sixty-four dollars and ...' and whence was at the crux of the matter.

"How much? A hundred? A million?"

He decided on $2,500 and brought the check two days later to the bank, thinking to himself, "Mr. Sixty-four dollars and ... Alexis, do you have any form of valid I.D.?" "Why yes, I do ."

And that was that, the check was deposited on May 9, 1998.
